Banana Oatmeal Cookies Recipe with Chocolate Chips and Walnuts.

These Banana Oatmeal Cookies are hands down the best banana flavored cookie I've ever had. Not only are they really moist and chewy for times, but they're unmistakably banana-y.

Banana may be one of these flavors that can get lost when you inhale with it. It can be very subtle taste. It always bums me out when that occurs, cause I really like the taste of banana. And thus does the hubs.

When great flavored banana treats come together, we move a little crazy for them.

These cookies make the record of banana items to go mad for. Without a doubt.

And they are so moistthey practically melt in your mouth. Additionally, with both oats and banana inside them, they're basically healthy, right? And perfect for breakfast!

Creating them is equally as simple as eating them.

You have the usual suspects -- butter, brown sugar, white sugar, an egg, vanilla and mashed bananas. You start with mixing all of those beautiful components together.

I must warn you. The smell of that mixture -- together with the banana -- is equally intoxicating. The hubs was in the kitchen which makes the dough together with me (we made a deal that contained him carbonated with me) and we had to work hard to not put our faces, or a straw, straight into it.

Then you add all the dry ingredients (which means you simply use one bowl yay!) And mix it all together!

To bake themspoon about a tablespoon of bread and create a thick disc, instead of a ball. They spread somewhat when baking, and thus don't place them too close together. Bake them for approximately 10-12 minutes for a nice, moist cookie. So yummy!

One additional thing I really like about this recipe is really where it came out.

My grandmother (my father's mom) passed out in 2008. Once I started draining a lot a few years back, my uncle gave me cookbook that he'd had and over here didn't use. I have had it on my list to produce a number of her desserts since.

It was a tradition for my grandma to make them every Christmas! She gave everyone a huge tin of these, which has been quite a feat with 6 sons.

I now know exactly how much of a feat it had been! My goodness. She made them with a traditional gaufrette iron which goes over a open fire. My father and I had them in the cooker. They cook very quickly and you need to be exact. Too little time and they sort of disintegrated to the iron. Overly long and they burned into the iron and we still had to clean it out.

My dad was pouring the batter and taking away the cookies, I was operating the iron, the hubs was time things. It required a number of tries to get it , but they had been so great! I've attempted to make them on my own and it never works. I'd like to share the recipe, but the dang irons are all so tough to find. And expensive. Sooner or later, I would like to just earn a cookie with the exact same gaufrette flavor.

For now though, I'm sharing these cookies. I really don't think I ever had them made them, but they're from her book.

It's such an enjoyable recipe book to check through, too. There are so many handwritten pages, including clippings and paper recipes that were taped into the book. I like the way they used to compose recipes at the newspaper -- they'd the individual who submitted it is title and adorable little tales. It is so fun to read through them! What a different time in the world!

Anyways, I do not really know where this recipe came from. The paper appears like it had been on a flier from their square dance band or something (they have been big into square dancing). It is definitely from West Virginia, where they lived.

Either way, I'm so happy to finally share a recipe out of her novel with you! I made a couple of adjustments to make them thicker and more puffier and they are delicious. There'll be more to come from her recipe book, but for the time being enjoy the banana.

Banana Oatmeal Cookies


Yield: 34-36 COOKIES


1 cup brown sugarpacked

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

2 tsp cornstarch

3 cups old fashioned oats


1. Mix together egg, brown sugar, sugar, egg, vanilla extract and mashed bananas until well blended.


3. Stir in oats.


5. Flatten dough a little bitinto thick disks. They will disperse a bit when boiled.

6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges just start to golden.
